Korea's power market is being restructured.

Where this is going

For decades Korea's power system was run from a small number of large plants under central dispatch. Renewables, battery storage and aggregated small resources now take a growing share of that work, and the market is being restructured around them: a day-ahead and real-time market piloted on Jeju, capacity contracts for storage, rules for virtual power plants, and a distributed-energy act that permits local power sales in designated zones.

For storage and VPP investors and operators this creates new revenue opportunities. It is also difficult to assess from outside Korea: the rules are published in Korean, market data sits inside the exchange's systems, and grid conditions determine what an asset can earn. kdermap provides the data, analysis and tools to evaluate, build and operate storage and VPP assets in Korea without a local team.
